Shape of Water

Great great movie.

The sets. Costumes. Lighting. Acting. Great job by everyone.

Sally Hawkins is someone I absolutely do not recognize as a celebrity. Yet I am enthralled by her character. She plays as a real person. Her character development throughout the film is amazing. I can feel her thoughts as though they are speaking without words.

Michael Shannon is the villain that comes once in a while. The bathroom scene after his introduction put everything in perspective. It was very easy to dislike him. To overcome him is to win, and we wanted to so win. The turning away of the colored couple in the diner further showed what a tough world they live in.

The cuts were pretty nice as well. Try to notice some of them. There was a great flow to this movie. I felt attached most of the way through.

Acting: 9.7/10 There was just enough characters to speak. It was almost perfect in dialogue that made story flow. The dialogue and the characters were to a point perfect in dialogue and just enough of them to keep it interesting.

Plot: 9/10 There was tension that I actually moved to the edge of my seat a couple times.

Di Says: For film lovers, this is a must watch. The sets and lighting were absolutely on point and amazing. The music was a solid plus. This movie is NOT for everyone.  There is a likability to the main character that keeps you enthralled to her happiness. Definitely worth your time on a moviepass and usually worth paying the dollars if you didn’t have it.

The Cast Saves Jumanji

The first movie I watched on Movie Pass and the first of 2018.

When I was first prompted to watch this movie, I had thought it was some kind of remake or the original. But I was surprised to find that had a fresh idea. Hero avatars taken over by teenagers. Although not as fresh if you knew about about movies coming out soon. Perhaps it copied the idea from some other story, most likely player one. It was still pretty sweet to see this story.

The avatars had some stats that helped their end goal and some weaknesses that played into the story.

The Rock playing a nerd inside a superhuman body. Kevin hart playing a jock inside a little person’s body. They both owned their roles. Great chemistry between the cast, it was extremely enjoyable to watch.

They probably had a blast making this movie. There were some slow moments, but perhaps they could be explained with the teenage awkwardness they were suppose to showcase.

ACTING: 8/10 For The Rock to actually show his range to act like a nerd, his total opposite. Kevin Hart was just being himself. Karen Gillian and her counterpart Morgan Turner showed us that female empowerment that is going on everywhere right now. Jack Black was pretending to be a popular pretty teenage girl trapped inside a fat man’s body. Pretty hard but he pulled through.

PLOT: 6.7/10 Basically it was put the thing in the thing. It worked. Almost everything you expect with a movie that had big name cast members.

Di Says: Watch it! A summer blockbuster released during winter.
